Air conditioner problems cover overall operation. If you find your unit is not working, start by making sure it is plugged into the outlet. If not, then check the breaker box, perhaps a breaker was flipped. If this is ok, check the actual on/off switch of the unit, checking that it was not somehow turned off accidentally. If everything checks out, you should have a licensed technician look at it.
If you find the unit runs but it is not cooling the room or home, start by making sure nothing is blocking the fan. Then, close off any nearby doors, setting the temperature up to see if the problem corrects itself. You should also look at the filter and coils in that over time, these can become dirty, thus reducing operation quality. The problem could also have something to do with not getting enough power to the unit. After checking all these things but still no luck, talk to a technician. For central air conditioner problems, it would depend if you have a split or package system. For instance, problems specific to the split system could include the compressor, fan motor, or coils whereas with the package system, the compressor, fan, blower motor, coil, or housing could have something wrong. Unless you know how to work on central air conditioners, we recommend you leave this to the pros. Sometimes, Freon in the compressors, which is what makes the air cold, could be out or low. In this case, the technician would come out and fill the compressor with more Freon, immediately allowing the system to produce cold air. However, if the motor fan or blower has gone bad, they would have to be replaced. Unfortunately, there would be the cost of the replacement item, as well as the technician’s time to make the repair. Now, if air conditioner problems include the system not starting up or working properly, there could be an issue with the electrical power. Therefore, before you call out an expensive technician, check to ensure the breaker has not been flipped. In this case, you could turn it back on but keep in mind that it might be a persistent problem. In this case, the breaker box would need to be upgraded to handle the load of the air conditioner. Coils outside are also checked to ensure the fan is running. However, sometimes air is not coming out well or cool simply because something has been placed in front of or around the unit, blocking it off. This could be a barbecue grill, lawn furniture, toys, etc. The bottom line is to consider the obvious first. Sometimes, the solution is simply and free, or minor and inexpensive. If you can fix air conditioner problems on your own great but remember that safety is the most important thing so if you are not sure what you are doing, let someone else handle it. Many times, air conditioner problems are nothing to get excited about, perhaps being a small wire that has broken or worn down, thus needing replaced. The best option for not dealing with a large number of air conditioner problems is to purchase the best quality you can afford in the first place. With so many companies offering great solutions, and at affordable prices, you are sure to find a unit for your home that will keep your home cool in the summer but with few problems. Most importantly, if you suspect you might be having some type of problem, do not wait to have it checked. For instance, if you notice a strange noise, smell anything funny, or the house is simply not cooling as it should, call a licensed tech to come look. The reason is that by waiting, you could be making the problem worse, which could easily equate to a much higher bill to have the problem fixed. On the other hand, having the unit checked immediately might discover a small problem that is inexpensive and easy to fix. Add as favourites (54) | Quote this article on your site
