Air Conditioner Brands and Types
(0 votes)
Before we get into specific brand names, we wanted to provide information regarding the types.  As you will discover, air conditioner types and brands are designed to fit any person’s needs, whether to cool a small room, or an entire home.
  • Single Package – This type of central air conditioning system is the type most homeowners use.  The components making up the design are mounted into a single package, which is usually mounted onto a building’s room, although in some situations, you would also find the single package unit on a wall.
  • Split System – Another central air conditioning unit is the ducted A/C.  Typically, when you think of a home having air conditioning, this is the type installed.  With this, the entire air conditioning unit is outside the home, which keeps the noise also outside.  In this case, a home would have to have proper ductwork leading into the different rooms within the home through which the cold air would be forced.  The result is a cool, comfortable home, but also one without noise.
  • Ductless – Now, if you have an older home, or any home without ductwork, you could go with a ductless option.  While an entire home would be difficult to cool, this is an excellent option for certain rooms or homes with an open floor space.  With this type of air conditioning unit, again you have the noisy unit on the exterior while the cool air is pushed inside.
  • Portable – If money is tight or you happen to have a room in the home that does not cool easily, then a portable air conditioning unit is a great option.  This type of system is affordable but it also works quite well.  Although you would experience some noise, it is typically low.  The key for this option is to cool a limited area but with a quality unit, you will notice a huge difference in comfort.
  • Evaporation – These air conditioners are also referred to as swamp coolers, which require pads to be hosed down with water.  These pads help by pulling air through and as the air evaporates, it becomes cool, thus cooling the home.
  • Window – Window units are commonly seen in older homes, apartments, or high-rise buildings.  These units are designed to set in an open window.  The air taken from the outside is cooled through the system, pushing cold air into the room.  Again, these only work for small homes or single rooms.
Now, regarding air conditioning types and brands, we have covered the various types but we also want to recommend some of the top brands.  Remember, not all air conditioners are made alike.

Obviously, the possibilities associated with air conditioning types and brands are incredible.  Not only can you choose a top brand, one backed by great warranties and customer service, but also have many options of the type needed for your particular situation.  With so many choices, you never again have to spend a summer feeling miserable and hot.  Remember, air conditioners run anywhere from $150 for portables up to thousands for central air.  Therefore, regardless of need or budget, you have many options to consider.

Of course, as you begin your search for various air conditioning types and brands, you want to try to narrow your choice down to a few of the best, allowing yourself time to reach reviews, check out styles, and learn all you can to make an informed decision.  After all, you are spending your hard-earned money so you want to get all you can for what you pay.

The above-mentioned air conditioning types and brands are the most commonly known but you will find other options as well.  With brands for example, we would recommend any of the above without hesitation.  These companies have spent years creating a brand and name that withstands the test of time.  However, that does not mean the lesser-known brands are bad.  The most important thing is making sure you buy safe equipment.  Therefore, always do your homework before buying.  You could even check with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) for companies not provided in this article.

With so many different options now available, if you have any questions, you can contact an air conditioner specialist and have him or her come to your home to see what you need.  It is also wise to do some consumer research about the various brands to determine which ones have been the best over a long period.  After all, this is a financial investment so you want to choose wisely.
